My process starts with dyeing yarn and fabrics using several type of dyes, depending on the results I seek.  I may then further enhance the fabric using a variety of surface design techniques.  I’m continually experimenting with new processes.  My fibers include textured silk, cotton, rayon, wool, mohair, and alpaca.  I collect vintage fabrics and love to incorporate them into my weavings for dynamic effects.

Fiber Arts allow me an avenue of expression representative of my life experiences.  I use numerous techniques to create an interaction between colors and textures.  I weave, dye, sew, felt, crochet, paint and spin.  To soothe my soul there has to be interplay between the paints, dyes, threads and textures.

Born and reared in Western North Carolina, I’ve had the joy of being surrounded by a culture rich in fine arts and crafts.  Life then delivered me to Colorado, where I spent 30 years marketing my work at fine craft galleries and art fairs throughout the Rockies and desert Southwest.

My studio work parallels my daily life as I seek to connect with people, nature, spirit and creatures.  The colors represent the spectrum of emotions we all experience.  The textures represent the human need for connection, for touch, for warmth.  Combining colors and textures allows me to express my joy and gratitude for the many gifts I receive.  Number 7 Arts Gallery features my hand-woven and dyed wraps and silk scarves.  Thank you for supporting my work.
