I have been a photographer for over 30 years. I have worked commercially in advertising, but really enjoy the fine art side of the medium. While working full time at a marketing/advertising career, I studied photography at both New York City’s School of Visual Arts and New York University at night and learned my craft at the feet of some well known photographers. All of my images for sale are limited editions of not more than 50 each.
My work has been shown, and has won photography awards, at the School of Visual Arts in NYC, the Dallas Center for Contemporary Arts and the One Show in Fort Worth, TX. My work has hung in Stratford Green Gallery in Lewisville, TX, and Mud, Wind & Fire Gallery in Grapevine, TX before moving to Brevard, NC in 2005. I was a co-founder of Bluewood Fine Art Photography Gallery in Brevard, NC. in 2006. The Gallery was sold in 2010 and I managed it for the new owner through 2012. I was juried into Number 7 Arts Gallery in Brevard in June 2013.
No matter what part of the country one lives in there is something unique about it. Those who live in Western North Carolina are particularly lucky to be in one of the most beautiful of areas. While the big landscapes of the Blue Ridge mountains, the Blue Ridge Parkway and the majestic waterfalls are what the region is known for, the smaller details are what intrigue me – how slats are lined up on the side of a barn, an old abandoned farm vehicle, the porch mirror of an old cabin, going in to the abstract of a thing. I like to shoot the parts of things and leave the rest to the viewer’s imagination. Start with the big picture and hone in on the tree. The viewer will supply his or her own forest.
